New star Sammamish nearly ready to go alongside returning Chilly Miss

Having the thrill of one of your horses working up the gallops is enough for many people to go into ownership but the prospect of two of your horses working together really is exciting and that's exactly what our owners had at Malcolm Jefferson's Newstead Stables at the end of July.

Having headed up to the gallops after seeing some of Malcolm's other stars, including Aintree winner Double W's, we were treated to a special moment as Chilly Miss and Sammamish worked together ahead of hopefully hitting the track in August.

Chilly back in full work and nearing comeback

Chilly Miss looks very happy to be back in full work and Malcolm has been happy with her work.

He said: "I've been really pleased with Chilly, she's showed all of her old energy and she wouldn't be far off a run now. Brian (Hughes) schooled her over some hurdles last Thursday and she jumped really well and has retained all of her love for the game."

Malcolm is looking at a couple of options for Chilly with Market Rasen on Saturday 19 August and also at Southwell on Sunday 20 August looking good starting points.

New star Sammamish ahead of schedule

Although originally planning to start her off in September, Malcolm has been really pleased with the progress Sammamish is making and has pencilled in the Mares' National Hunt Flat Race at Perth on Saturday 19 August. Last year the race was won by Irish Roe who went on to win a bumper at Cheltenham and then ran at both the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals. We are already dreaming of something similar from Sammamish!

Malcolm said: "She wouldn't be the biggest but she's a real trier and I like what I've seen so far. I'm hopefully she'll be very good and the Perth race looks a nice place to start out."
