The Racegoers Club are delighted to announce an exciting partnership with Grand National and Gold Cup winning trainer Jonjo O'Neill. We are delighted that Jonjo has agreed to train for us again - reigniting a partnership that goes back to 1988 and a horse called Cock Sparrow.
This time around it is an exciting four-year-old filly called Marmalade Mist who will be trained at Jackdaws Castle and carry the Racegoers Club colours. Coming from breeder Gary Hadden in Ireland, breeder of More Of That and Minella Rocco, she is by top sire Stowaway and out of Shean Rose, selling for €30,000 at the recent Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.
She is a half-sister to Grade 1 winning Blow By Blow who is owned by Gigginstown House Stud. Her full pedigree is available here.
Jonjo O'Neill said: "I’m delighted to be training for the Racegoers Club again and I think we’ve found a really exciting horse to have together.
“I’ve always had a great relationship with Gary and the horses he sends over tend to be quite useful so we’re hopeful this filly will be as well. She was broken in by Martin Jones who is one of the best in the business and she is likely to start off in bumpers this season and then we can go from there.
"She has plenty of character but that's what you want and she's a smashing filly. You'd be very hopeful the way she moves. I know Martin Jones thought a lot of her and she looks like she's got the physical ability."
Marmalade Mist was broken in by Martin Jones, a renowned pre trainer of race horses.
Martin said, "She's a smashing filly and we were very pleased with her during her time here. She's a lovely filly and I'm hopeful she'll be very good."
Stowaway was a high-level performer on the Flat for Godolphin winning the Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and the Great Voltigeur at York in the same year. Standing at Whytemount Stud in Ireland he was responsible for some of the top National Hunt horses of recent times including dual Cheltenham Festival winner Champagne Fever, 2016 Lexus Chase winner Outlander, the hugely popular Hidden Cyclone, 2017 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockey's Hurdle and subsequent Grade 1 winner at the Punchestown Festival Champagne Classic, 2017 Sefton Novice Hurdle winner at Aintree The Worlds End and Irish Grand National runner up Away We Go to name just a few.
Shean Rose was an unraced mare by Roselier, sire of Grand National winner Monet's Garden, and has already shown her prowess in the breeding sphere. Blow By Blow won the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at Punchestown in 2016 beating Moon Racer, Bacardys and Presenting Percy. He also has two other bumper wins including the defeat of Death Duty at Fairyhouse. Shean Rose also produced five time winner Everdon Brook. Marmalade Mist also has an unraced five year old full brother called Sonowyouno who is owned by JP McManus and in training with Edward O'Grady in Ireland.
As you can see from the picture she is a big, imposing filly with lots of scope. She promises to be very exciting and shares are available for just £295.
