This is our second season with Theatre Rouge, she gave us a thrilling end to her first season in training and it is very exciting to think what could lie in store for her this year. She has her quirks but as they say, the good ones often do. She has proven she has plenty of ability to match her stunning looks. This group will run until May 2017 and the price of a share to cover all costs for the season is £250, the group is limited to 200 shares only. Please see here for more details on how our Owners Groups work. The first opportunity for share owners to visit Theatre Rouge is Friday 28th October.
Theatre Rouge - 4 Year old filly
"She has had a very good summer and looks particularly well so we are all looking forward to a good season" (Philip Hobbs)
Theatre Rouge came back into training in mid July. She started with some trotting exercise before starting canter work in August and Philip expects her to be ready to run by early October. Philip learned a lot about Theatre Rouge last season and was delighted with the progress she made in her second start at Newton Abbot where she finished second, only just pipped for first place. She is a big filly and the best of her is very much still to come. We were delighted she did so well last season as Kings Theatres do seem to come into their own as they mature.
‘Toulon Rouge’ is very well known to the Club as she was herself an Owners Group horse from 2002-2005. She won 4 races from 20 starts including hurdles over a distance of 2m5f-2m7f and a 3 mile 1f chase. She was also placed 5 times and all in all was a great servant to her share owners before she was retired to stud.
Kings Theatre very sadly died in 2011 and our filly is from his very last crop which makes her very precious. Kings Theatre has been a leading National Hunt sire and for the past 3 National Hunt Seasons he has been top sire both in terms of number of wins and by prize money won.
Philip Hobbs accomplishments as a trainer are well understood and his reputation has been well established not only as a top trainer but for remaining so down to earth, straight talking and honest. Philip Hobbs is never one to rush a horse but equally won’t wrap something in cotton wool when he feels it is ready to start learning and take its chance. He gets on very well with the progeny of Kings Theatre with some of the stallion’s top offspring residing in his care namely Menorah, Fingal Bay, Captain Chris, Royal Regatta and the much adored Balthazar King.
