Sandown

This weekend there was some high-class action from both sides of the Irish Sea. The first Dublin Racing Festival was a massive success, but we will be focusing on the winners from Sandown, Wetherby and Musselburgh.

The weekend started with a facile victory for Buveur D'Air in the Contenders Hurdle. The Champion Hurdle favourite went off a very short price and duly obliged, in what was the perfect preparation for The Festival. Thirty minutes later, Nicky Henderson was in the Winners Enclosure again with Terrefort. There had been a fantastic battle up the home straight between Terrefort and the Nicholls' trained Cyrname in what was arguably the race of the meeting. Shortly after, Paul Nicholls got a win on the board as Topofthegame powered up the run-in to get his first Graded win of his career.

Over at Wetherby, Ballyoptic used all of his stamina to fend off the challenge of Vintage Clouds and scooped the Grade 2 prize. The weekend ended with another easy victory for Nicky Henderson as We Have A Dream bolted up in the Juvenile Hurdle Trial.

Be sure to check back next Wednesday for the scores.
