Swiss Belle thrills owners on visit to Musley Bank

One of the many thrills of racehorse ownership is the chance to visit your horse on the gallops and see them work with other horses and given that Swiss Belle has yet to see a racecourse, the work she did on Thursday was the biggest thrill she has given us yet.

Working with another unraced two-year-old filly by Lethal Force who is owned by Cheveley Park, she was ridden by Connor Murtagh - one of Richard Fahey's apprentice jockeys.

Connor said: "I was very pleased with how she went this morning. She did a good canter up the gallop and then breezed up nicely alongside the other filly. She's been working well recently and we're not far off getting her a run now.

"She's very sweet and she's done everything we've asked of her so far which is very encouraging. You can't miss her with those big ears either!"

Richard Fahey, having emerged from his office after finding enough jockeys to ride his 29 entries for Saturday, was also pleased and if all goes to plan we should see Swiss Belle make her racecourse debut very soon.

Richard said, "She was good and as you can see she really tries hard. I think she could be quite useful so fingers crossed we'll get her going soon.

"I'm afraid to say it as I don't want to tempt fate but we are nearly there. It's been a bit painful because she was ready to go but she's almost there again now which is great. We'll make some entries for her in early August. Don't tell her that though!"
