Rescheduled races from Ascot’s cancelled Clarence House Chase raceday

  • Clarence House Steeple Chase (Grade 1) transferred to Cheltenham on Saturday, 28 January
  • OLBG.com Mares’ Hurdle (Grade 2) transferred to Huntingdon on Friday, 27 January
  • New entries to be taken for both races
  • Cheltenham to run a nine race card

Following the abandonment of racing at Ascot racecourse on Saturday, the British Horseracing Authority, in conjunction with Jockey Club Racecourses is pleased to confirm that the Clarence House Steeple Chase (Grade 1) has been transferred to Cheltenham on Saturday, 28 January.

The Race will be run with a total prize fund of £70,000 and take place at 1.45pm.
 
Original entries will not stand and new entries will close at noon on Tuesday, 24 January. 48 hour declarations must be made by 10am on Thursday, 26 January.
 
In addition the OLBG.com Mares’ Hurdle Race (Registered as The Warfield) (Grade 2) has been transferred to Huntingdon on Friday, 27 January.  The Race will be run with a total prize fund of £32,500 and take place at 2.35pm.
 
Original entries will not stand and new entries will close at noon on Tuesday, 24 January.
 
The British Horseracing Authority wishes to thank Cheltenham racecourse and the Horserace Betting Levy Board for their assistance with this transfer.

The Grade 1 Clarence House Chase will be sponsored by Spectra Group, a leading international provider to Defence & Security, Public and Commercial organisations of secure Voice and Data networks and Satellite communications.

Ian Renton, Regional Director of the south west region of The Jockey Club added, “I am delighted that we have been able to work with the BHA to reschedule the Clarence House Chase to Cheltenham this Saturday, as part of Festival Trials Day and that Spectra Group will be sponsoring the race, the first sponsorship under this brand. Myself and the team are looking forward to a marathon day with nine races scheduled to take place on Saturday.”

Gates will open 30 minutes earlier on Saturday at Cheltenham, at 10am.
