Glacier Point wins at Chepstow

Good things often come to those who wait and the owners of Glacier Point were finally rewarded at Chepstow on Friday evening as our three-year-old filly got her head in front at the seventh time of asking.

Returned the 9/4 favourite Glacier Point had been well supported in the market and despite concerns that the ground might have dried out a bit too much the first-time cheek pieces did the job as she recorded a neck victory over Compton Poppy.

Having jumped out well jockey David Probert showed his experience and nous at the course by tracking across to bag the rail and set a strong pace. Asked for her effort about a furlong and a half out Glacier Point responded well and was going away at the line.

Trainer Clive Cox said: "Well done everybody - I'm delighted and it's great to train a winner for you. It all went to plan really. The cheek pieces certainly brought some improvement and David rides the track so well which was a massive help to us."

Still lightly raced we hope there will be plenty more to come from Glacier Point whose form as a two-year-old still looks strong as does the form of the Maiden she finished third in at Bath earlier this season. The winner that day was Goodwood Crusader who is now rated 94 and ran on Friday at Newmarket in the big sprint handicap finishing seventh.

We will see what the handicapper does with Glacier Point but there should be plenty more fun for her owners this season. You can still get involved and buy your share today by signing up online or calling us on 01344 625 912.
