Theatre Rouge was a little bit of an enigma last season, Philip Hobbs could see she was talented but she was too excitable on the gallops at home to knuckle down to her education. It took a lot of work and a lot of patience but eventually she started to mature. Jockey Micheal Nolan spent a lot of time with her at home and his hard work paid off with her narrow defeat at Newton Abbot in April.
Every horse needs to be trained like an individual and we are looking forward to Philip and his team putting what they learned about Theatre Rouge last season into practice. Theatre Rouge will start off in bumpers and Philip will see how she gets on before deciding when to switch her to hurdles.
